Wonderbat Week 2018: Shared Hobbies
It all started when Bruce broke his leg. Fractured fibula. Minimum two months recovery. It was a stupid accident, really. Routine chase against Harley and Poison Ivy. Totally avoidable. He should have seen it coming. He’s not in pain, he’s completely capable and he doesn’t need any assistance thank you very much, he retorted whenever Clark asked.
Hal Jordan suggested drones. There were a lot of scouting and reconnaissance tasks that could be performed remotely. Cyborg could certainly use his help.
About a month in, with Bruce oddly uncomplaining about his lack of active missions, Diana grew suspicious. So, late one evening, she invited herself over to his manor. With Alfred’s permission, she went straight to the den to find him brandishing a PS4 controller, in the middle of a Monster Hunter arena quest versus a Silver Rathalos.
“Video games improve hand-eye coordination and have been proven to keep the mind active among the elderly. I am already in my forties. I need to git gud.”
One look, one haughtily raised eyebrow, and she was having none of it. With a beleaguered sigh, he pointed at an extra controller and motioned for her to join him.
In Street Fighter, she handed his posterior to him on a silver platter. In Resident Evil Co-op, he saved her several times and blew her away in kill counts.
A fleeting glance let her see a smirk tug at the corner of his lips. He was enjoying himself. Just like a kid. To be fair, she was enjoying it too.
Despite his larger-than-life personas, as both the Bat and the glitzy Billionaire, he had a human side, after all.
She liked that.
I love the backstory to this, and I think I’m not the only one who’d love to see these two duke it out in Street Fighter! ~ Maiden
